Ryu is my brother's main (he's moved on from Little Mac), so I feel I've got a good handle on how he works in Smash. Plus I wanted to make a character that antes and uses a card.
Ryu
Tireless Wanderer
UA: New Challenger (? Iunno I'll have to find a more interesting reference)
Ryu's kit comes with aMix-up Input card. As a Reveal effect, the Input card gives a different boost to Ryu's attack pair depending on what side is face-up.
Light gives -1 Power and +1 Priority, while Heavy gives +1 Power and -1 Priority.
As an ante, Ryu may flip his Input card.
Base
Focus Attack
R: 1
P: 3
S: 3
Soak 1
Light: Stun Guard 2, OH: Push up to 2 spaces. Opponent has -1 Priority next beat.
Heavy: Stun Immunity, OH: Opponent is stunned. Opponent has -5(?) Priority next beat.
Styles
Medium
R: +0
P: +0
S: +0
Rev: Ignore the Input card and any of its effects this beat.
Collarbone?/Approaching?/Forward?
R: +0
P: +0
S: +0
Light, BA: Advance 1 or 2.
Heavy: Ignore Soak and Stun Guard.
Combo
R: +0
P: -1
S: +0
Light, OH: Flip the Input card and repeat this attack.
Mix-up
R: +0
P: +0
S: +0
Light, Reveal: This attack has +0-1 Range.
Heavy, Stun Guard 2. BA: Advance up to 2 spaces.
Dragon
R: +0
P: +0
S: +0
Heavy, OH: If the opponent is at Range 1, this attack gains +1 Power.
Still working on other styles. Finishers are easy, but I'm playing with the idea of the ability to switch finishers built into them (i.e. "If the opponent is at Range 1, flip this card) since that's kind of how his Final Smash works, but I feel it could be too OP...
